The Division of Planning is launching efforts to draft the 2020 Comprehensive Plan Update. With the 2010 Comprehensive Plan as the foundation, the Division will begin the process by gathering public input and collecting data to define goals and strategies that will guide the City's growth and development for the next ten to twenty years. The Plan will establish implementation measures and benchmarks to ensure that the community's vision is put into action and the goals are being met.

The Monocacy Boulevard, Central Section Phase 2 project extends from the intersection of Monocacy Boulevard and Gas House Pike to the intersection of Monocacy Boulevard and Schifferstadt Boulevard. The project includes the construction of approximately 3,550 linear feet of a four-lane roadway inclusive of a new two-lane bridge and the rehabilitation of the existing two-lane bridge over the Monocacy River. The project also includes a new traffic signal at the intersection of Monocacy Boulevard and Gas House Pike. The road will have much the same character as Schifferstadt Boulevard, and the most recent portion of Monocacy Boulevard, with sidewalks, a shared use path, landscaped medians, etc

The City began construction of a critical missing link of Christopher’s Crossing between Clover Ridge and Walter Martz Road in the Fall of 2018. This segment connects the existing endpoint of Christopher’s Crossing in Clover Ridge to the intersection of Walter Martz Road and Poole Jones Road. Christopher’s Crossing will ultimately extends from U.S. 15 north of the City to U.S. 40 west of the City. The project is being constructed by C. William Hetzer Inc.
To date, the contractor has made significant progress on the project. Work underway or completed includes; installation of perimeter sediment controls, rough grading of the roadway, installation of culverts for the stream crossing, utility installations including storm drain, water and sewer, street light conduits on the south side of the site, and curb and gutter installations along portions of the roadway. Construction of the traffic circle at Walter Martz/Christopher’s Crossing/Poole Jones Road will begin on or about October 22 dependent upon weather conditions.
The current project completion timeframe is mid-Summer of 2020.

The Downtown Frederick Hotel at Carroll Creek builds on 30 years of investment in downtown and along Carroll Creek Park to bring a strongly needed new lodging and meeting space to Downtown Frederick. The new facility, to be located as an anchor on Carroll Creek Park at the intersection of East Patrick and Carroll Streets, responds to both stated community and business needs. Proposed as a full-service Marriott hotel, the project will generate approximately $25 million in economic impact and will attract future private investment into the surrounding area.
The project consists of approximately:
- 199 guest rooms
- 24,000 SF meeting space
- 160 space on-site public parking garage
- Fully renovated history trolley building (Frederick Railroad Building)
- retail and restaurant space
