On Tuesday October 11, 2011 at approximately 0040 hours the Frederick Police Department responded to an commercial burglary alarm at the 7 Express Store in the 400 block of E. Patrick St. When the officers arrived it was discovered that a burglary had just taken place. The front door of the store had been smashed out with a brick and a suspect had entered the store and stolen cash and merchandise. Upon reviewing the store’s surveillance video a very detailed description of the suspect was obtained. At approximately 0430 hours, OFC. Keith Donovan who was the investigating officer at the scene of the burglary located a suspect matching the description of the burglary suspect at the bus stop in front of the MARC Station on S. East St. OFC. Donovan stopped the person and after verifying that he was wearing the exact same clothing as the suspect in the surveillance video placed him under arrest for the burglary. Some of the suspected stolen merchandise was recovered in the suspect’s possession. At the time of this press release the suspect was being charged at Central Booking and had not had an initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
