Kershner Appointed Director of Public Works
Frederick, MD -- Mayor Randy McClement is pleased to announce the appointment of Zack Kershner, P.E., to the position of Director of Public Works for The City of Frederick effective January 9, 2014. Mr. Kershner’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the divisions of Public Works including Operations, Planning, Engineering, Building and Code Enforcement, Parks and Recreation, and Sustainability.
Mr. Kershner joined the City in October 2006 as Assistant City Engineer and has spent the past 6 years as Deputy Director of Public Works for Engineering. During his tenure with the City, he has managed the Engineering Department, overseen various public works projects, and provided guidance on development and adequate public facility matters.
“I have total confidence in Zack’s leadership as do the Board of Aldermen” said Mayor McClement. “Zack has the experience, professionalism and expertise necessary to fulfill this role, and I know that he will do a great job as Director. He has and will continue to serve this City well.”
Mr. Kershner graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S. in Mining and Minerals Engineering. He holds Professional Engineering Licenses in the States of Maryland and Virginia. His background spans both the private sector as well as municipal government.
