Officer Benjamin Whitmore of the Frederick Police Department was arrested and charged with second degree assault by the Garrett County Sheriff's Office on February 2, 2014
On February 2, 2014, the Garrett County Sheriff's Office (MD) arrested Officer Benjamin Whitmore of the Frederick Police Department (FPD). Officer Whitmore was charged with second-degree assault and was released after an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Officer Whitmore’s police powers have been suspended and he has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the criminal investigation being conducted by the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, and a separate internal investigation conducted by the Internal Affairs Unit of the Frederick Police Department.
Officer Whitmore is a 5-year veteran of the agency and was assigned to the Patrol Division at the time of his suspension.
