City Unveils “iSpires” Smartphone App

Frederick, MD – The City of Frederick announced today the launch of iSpires, the City’s smartphone application. The iSpires app allows City residents to quickly and easily, send questions to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, report code enforcement complaints, potholes or other problems in the City. This application further supports our citizen access tools that are currently part of the Report a Problem section of our City website at www.cityoffrederick.com/report

“This app is a direct result of the Blighted and Vacant Property Committee’s recommendations,” said Mayor Randy McClement. “This could have been a very costly project, luckily, Matthew Bowman, Technology Manager for the City and our IT Department created (and named) iSpires in house.”

iSpires was designed by Mohamed Ismail, the City’s IT Network Administrator, who used his coding and application development skills to develop the first ever City IOS application.

iSpires is free and available for download on the city’s website: www.cityoffrederick.com
or on itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ispires/id862605376?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

In addition to the smartphone app, the City IT Department is responsible for several new website features designed to increase accessibility of Code Enforcement data. The City’s Spires GIS Mapping System now allows citizens to view violations throughout the City on a detailed map; and the Code Enforcement Database provides similar information in a searchable chart. The SpiresGIS system and the searchable code enforcement database were also custom programmed applications created in house by Bill Adkins, Network Administrator. iSpires will continue to be improved upon and expanded in the upcoming year.
