On 8/8/14, at approximately 1230 hours, officers and detectives with the Frederick Police Department responded to the 400 block of W. 7th St. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers came into contact with the victim who said he was in the parking lot of Frederick Memorial Hospital when he was approached by another male. The victim told police a physical altercation ensued, and during the fight, the victim was slashed with a knife. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at FMH.
UPDATE: A warrant was obtained for the suspect from the above incident and on 08-09-2014 at approximately 1515 hours officers spotted the suspect in the area of Prospect Plaza Shopping Center off of S. Jefferson St. A neighborhood canvass was done and searches of several businesses in the area. Concerned residents in the area provided assistance and leads but the suspect eluded patrol units at that time.
At approximately 1900 hours, the suspect turned himself in at Frederick Police Headquarters. He advised that he turned himself in due to pressure from the earlier search and at the urging of his family and a friend who had been contacted by officers during that search.
The suspect was arrested and transported to FMH ER for treatment of a minor pre-existing injury. He was then taken to Frederick County Central Booking where he was served with a warrant stemming from the initial incident charging him with 1rst and 2nd degree assault as well as reckless endangerment.
