On today's date the Frederick Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Pizza Blitz on Yellow Springs Rd.
On 02-11-12 at approximately 2135 hrs. Officers of the Frederick Police Departments Patrol Division responded to a reported armed robbery at the Pizza Blitz Restaurant in the 2000 block of Yellow Springs Rd. Upon arrival officers were advised that a subject entered the business and displayed a handgun demanding money. An accomplice remained outside the business during the robbery. The suspect with the weapon was dressed in dark pants, a grey hoodie, ski mask and gloves. The other suspect is described as wearing blue jeans. Both suspects were slender and approximately 5-11 to 6-00 in height. One suspect is believed to be Black and the other White. The gunman held employees at gunpoint and went behind the counter forcing an employee to open the cash register. The suspect removed an undetermined amount of U.S. currency from the register and both subjects fled on foot. A thorough canvass of the area by responding officers, and the MSP Helicopter met with negative results in locating the suspects. Search efforts, including a K9 track, were hampered by weather conditions (high winds and snow). The FPD Crime Scene Unit and CID responded to the scene to collect evidence and begin the follow up investigation.
