Frederick, MD - January 30, 2015:
The Frederick Police Department is pleased to announce the arrest of two subjects in the February 4, 2015, shooting at Frederick High School.

Detectives Jorge Garcia and Gene Alston were assigned as co-lead investigators. These detectives, assisted by every member of the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, have worked extremely hard over this past month and a half to establish probable cause on two individuals. Detectives interviewed well over 300 persons during the course of this investigation, and executed over a dozen search and seizure warrants.

On Friday March 20, 2015, the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office presented information before a Frederick County Grand Jury where 2 indictments were delivered, ordering the arrest of Brandon Earl Tyler, DOB 12/29/1993 (age 21) and Chandler Tristian Davenport, DOB 08/07/1998 (age 19), both of Frederick County. Both individuals have been charged with the following crimes related to the events that occurred outside the Frederick High School basketball gym at 8:11 pm on February 4, 2015.

4 Counts 1st Degree Assault
1 Count Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Assault
4 Counts Use of a Handgun in a Felony / Violent Crime
4 Counts of Reckless Endangerment

The shooting occurred outside the gymnasium, during a school basketball game, between local high schools. Two juvenile victims were struck by the gunfire, and a school employees and bystander were forced to run and seek cover from the gunman, to avoid being struck.

One juvenile male sustained a gunshot wound to his leg; a second juvenile male sustained a gunshot wound to his back. Both victims were flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD for treatment of non-life threatening wounds, and both have since been released.
The Frederick Police Department would like to thank the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s office for their constant hard work and counsel throughout this investigation. We would also like to thank our partners who responded on that day to assist in gaining order to a very chaotic situation: the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the Frederick County Board of Education, and the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

We would also like to thank the members of the Frederick Community who have been extremely patient, understanding, and trusting in their police department while we worked through the extensive amount of information.
This case remains an open and active investigation as there is still additional work to be completed, and additional follow-up interviews to be conducted. If anyone has any additional information they would like to provide to detectives, we are asking them to contact us via the Frederick Police Department’s smart phone app or on our tip line at 301-600-TIPS.
