Frederick Police recover loaded handgun from traffic stop with additional charges

On April 12th 2015 at approximately 0308 hours, Officer Constantine was in the area of Wilson Place and Taney Ave when he observed a dark colored SUV without a functioning brake light. Officer Constantine conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was contacted and identified as Carter, Clarence P. of Hagerstown, MD.
As Officer Constantine spoke to Carter he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A driver’s license check also revealed Carter’s out of state license was suspended. Carter was placed under arrest for both offenses and his vehicle was searched. During the search Officers located a loaded handgun, a straight bladed weapon, additional ammunition, and marijuana within the vehicle. Carter was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. Carter was charged with the following:
1- Driving on a suspended out of state license
2- Driving without a license
3- Carrying, wearing, transporting a handgun in a vehicle
4- Possession of marijuana
5- Concealing a dangerous weapon
6- Payable citations
