Two Frederick men were charged with theft and other associated charges stemming from an investigation related to theft from a motor vehicle.
Two Frederick men were charged with theft and other associated charges stemming from an investigation into a theft from motor vehicle. During the early morning hours of February 16th members of the Frederick Police Department’s Directed Patrol Unit were conducting surveillance operations in the area of the Cannon Bluff neighborhood. At this time officers witnesses two individuals acting in a suspicious manner. These individuals were contacted and identified as Seth Alexander Nikirk and Chadwick Daniel Handley. After questioning, Nikirk and Handley were released from the scene.
The next morning a resident who lived in this area reported items were stolen from his vehicle. OFC Gregory Loftis completed follow-up investigation and was able to obtained charges on Nikirk and Handley for this theft.
The Frederick Police Department would like take this opportunity to remind citizens to take the following precautions to safeguard their property, and prevent becoming a victim.
* Ensure vehicle is locked at all times
* Ensure windows are completely rolled up
* Ensure sunroof is completely closed
* Remove ALL valuables from vehicle when you leave
* Park in well-lit areas
* Install an alarm system and use it faithfully
* Report ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY!
