The investigation into the personal injury accident that occurred on Gashouse Pike is continuing. The victim, identified as Jeffrey Henriksen of Walkersville, remains in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The victim was the sole occupant in his vehicle and the tractor trailer that was struck was parked and unoccupied. The damage to both vehicles was significant and they both had to be towed from the scene. Further updates will be released as they become available.

On today's date, 02-26-12, at approximately 1908 hours, the Frederick Police Department's Patrol Division responded to a report of a single vehicle personal injury accident in the area of the 8,000 block of Gas House Pike, just inside of the City Line. As officer's arrived, Frederick County Rescue Service was already on the scene and tending to a lone male occupant of a compact vehicle which had collided with a parked 18 wheel Tractor Trailer. The driver, a male in his early 20s, was initially entrapped in the vehicle and was extracated from the vehicle and flown via MSP Medi-vac helicopter (Trooper 3) to University of MD Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. His condition is not known at this time. Frederick Police Department officers trained in Accident Reconstruction are on the scene of the accident at the time of this release. Gas House Pike had been closed from 1908 until 2215 hours from Progress Drive to Linganore Rd as the investigation was underway.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time as the investigation is still active. The driver's name is not being released at this time.
