Frederick, MD – November 30, 2015 The City of Frederick’s Arborist Tom Rippeon placed Christmas trees in two traditional locations in The City of Frederick. A 25-foot Norway Spruce, donated by Paul and Rachel Beard, stands at the 7th Street Fountain on North Market Street while an 18-foot Blue Spruce, donated by Donald Eyler Jr., stands in front of City Hall.
Mayor McClement said, “The City of Frederick would like to thank the Beard Family and Mr. Eyler for donating the trees. The trees in these two locations highlight the traditional walks and drives around Frederick for many citizens and visitors.”
The tree in front of City Hall serves as the center piece for the annual Festival of Lights illumination held in the historic courtyard in front of City Hall which will take place this year on Friday December 18th at 7:00 PM. During the ceremony, Mayor Randy McClement will light the City Hall tree.
The tree placed at the fountain on Seventh Street is the end result of a beautiful tree-lit drive down Market Street. Many people have said that as long as they can remember, there has been a tree at the fountain on 7th Street.
