On today's date the Frederick Police Department arrested a juvenile for motor vehicle theft after a short pursuit.
On Wednesday March 14, 2012 at approximately 1439 hours Officer Clark of the Frederick Police Department was on routine patrol in the area of Madison Street and South Market Street. At this location Officer Clark witnessed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for Officer Clark, who had activated all her emergency equipment. The vehicle continued driving out South Market Street and headed out Buckeystown Pike. The vehicle turned right onto Guilford Drive where it finally stopped near the WalMart. After the vehicle stopped it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen through the Frederick Police Department on March 12, 2012. The driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver was identified as a 17 year old juvenile. The driver was taken to Frederick Police Department headquarters where he was charged through the Department of Juvenile Services. Due to the age of the suspect no identifying information will be released. The charges are as follows:
1) Theft of motor vehicle
2) Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
3) Driving without a license
4) Fleeing and Eluding
5) Failure to stop at steady circular red signal
The vehicle was towed to a nearby storage facility until it can be reclaimed by the owner. No one was injured and the vehicle was not damaged during the short pursuit.
