The City of Frederick Seeks to Fill Vacancies
on Boards & Commissions
Frederick, MD – The City of Frederick is currently seeking applicants interested in filling positions on the following Boards and Commissions. Interested individuals should submit a recent resume and letter of interest, noting the commission or board, to Marsha Bowers, Commission Coordinator, 101 North Court Street, Frederick, MD 21701 or email to by Friday, March 30, 2012.

Building Code Appeals Board – Licensed Maryland Contractor
There is one vacancy on the Building Code Appeals Board for an individual who is licensed as a home improvement contractor by the State of Maryland and who has been engaged in the business of contracting within The City of Frederick for at least five years. The member will be appointed to a three-year term, and at the conclusion thereof will be eligible for reappointment. The Building Code Appeals Board meets as needed to hear disputes and appeals relating to the City’s Building Code and certain other provisions of the City Code.

The Planning Commission - Alternate Position
There is one vacancy on the Planning Commission for an alternate member with a term of five years. All members must be City residents. The Planning Commission is responsible for making recommendations on the City’s comprehensive plan, zoning map amendments and amendments to the Land Management Code and for approving applications for development approvals such as site plans, subdivision plats, and master plans. The Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at City Hall. Field trip meetings are held the preceding Friday at 3:00 pm in the Municipal Annex Office Building. Workshop meetings are held at 2:00 pm on the third Monday of the month, also at the Annex Building. Additional meetings are scheduled as needed.

Zoning Board of Appeals - Full Position
There is one vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) for a regular member with a term ending on June 3, 2012. At the conclusion of that term, the member will be eligible for reappointment. The ZBA hears and decides applications for variances and conditional uses, as well as appeals of decisions of the zoning administrator or other administrative officials in the enforcement of the City's Land Management Code. The ZBA generally meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., with a "field trip" the preceding Friday at 2:30 pm.
