The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team has made an arrest of a Frederick man for possession of crack cocaine
On 04-13-2016, officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations in the area of the Orchard Terrace and S. McCain Drive, in Frederick City.
During the investigation, there came a time when the vehicle was stopped for the traffic violations in the area of Denny’s, off of N. McCain Drive. Contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as, Joseph Michael Rogers. During the traffic stop, officers believed Rogers was involved in illegal drug activity based on their observations. As a result a K-9 officer was called to the stop location. Rogers was placed under arrest after a positive K-9 alert on the vehicle. Rogers attempted to discard a small amount of crack cocaine while being arrested. An officer observed his actions and retrieved the discarded item. The officer inspected the discarded item and noticed it to be crack cocaine.
Rogers was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
