The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team has made an arrest of a Frederick man for the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute
On 04-19-2016, at 6:39 pm, an officer of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Jefferson Pike and Butterfly Lane, in Frederick City, with a non-functioning brake light. The officer conducted the traffic stop for the Safety Equipment Repair Order (SERO).
Prior to exiting his vehicle, the officer observed a large cloud of smoke exiting out of the driver’s window. As the officer approached the vehicle he immediately detected the strong odor of marijuana. As the officer contacted the driver of the vehicle he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment. The driver was identified as, Noah Grandt Sheppard. Based on the odor of marijuana inside of the vehicle, Sheppard was placed under arrest and subsequently searched. During the search of Sheppard, he advised the officer he had marijuana in his vehicle. A search of Sheppard’s vehicle yielded a plastic sandwich bag, which contained nine (9) smaller baggies containing marijuana.
A further search of the vehicle was conducted. Several $20 bills were located near the location of the baggies of marijuana. In addition, a container was located in the trunk. Within the container there was a gallon sized plastic baggie, which had the odor of marijuana, and a digital scale for weighing.
Sheppard was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Due to the packaging of the nine (9) baggies of marijuana, digital scales, gallon baggie and the location where the baggies were located, Jackson was subsequently charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
