The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team has made an arrest of two Frederick men for the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute
On 05-06-2016, officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team responded to an address in the 100 block of Tillman Place, in Frederick City, in the attempt to locate a wanted person.
The homeowner was contacted at the residence and gave permission for officers to search the house in the attempt to locate the wanted person. While looking for the wanted person, an officer observed two suspects actively packaging marijuana into smaller baggies. A digital scale was being used during this process and a total of nineteen (19) individual baggies of marijuana were located. The total amount of marijuana seized was 29 grams. The two suspects were subsequently arrested and identified as, Jose Alexander Duran Garcia and Jose Carmelo Mejia Lopez.
Duran Garcia and Mejia Lopez were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Due to the officers' observations, the amount of individual baggies, and the scale used during packaging, Duran Garcia and Mejia Lopez were subsequently charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
