The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit arrested a Frederick woman for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and prescription drugs…
On 06/06/2017, officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were conducting enforcement in the 900 block of W. Patrick Street. In this area, officers observed a vehicle fail to stay within one lane. The vehicle was swerving back and forth between the right and left lane. As a result, a traffic stop was initiated and conducted in the area of Route 15S/340W and Jefferson Street.
During the traffic stop, officers made contact with the vehicle occupants and observed them to be breathing heavily, nervous and visibly shaking. A K9 officer responded to the stop location and conducted a sniff of the vehicle. The sniff resulted in a positive alert of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) emitting from the vehicle.
As a result, the occupants were removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was searched for the presence of CDS. During the search, officers located a pair of shoes in a grocery bag. Officers found crack cocaine (two grams), a set of digital scales and other drug paraphernalia inside one of the shoes. In addition, inside the grocery bag officers found a smaller baggie containing 24.5 pills. The pills were later determined to be prescription only promethazine hydrochloride. Neither occupant had a prescription.
The front seat passenger, who was later identified as Latonya Nicole Dykes, admitted to the crack cocaine, pills and drug paraphernalia being hers. As a result, Dykes was placed under arrest.
Dykes was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
