Female Juvenile frightened by suspicious behavior.
The Frederick Police Department wishes to make the public aware of a suspicious incident that occurred on 04/06/2012. A juvenile female was walking in the area of Frederick High School at Carroll Parkway and Fairview Ave. around 3:00 in the afternoon. A blue in color, extended cab pick-up truck slowed and stopped and the driver started to exit the vehicle. The driver was described as a white male with a beard, sunglasses and gray ball cap. The female was frightened by this behavior and ran to her home. The driver did not speak to the female and ultimately stayed in his vehicle and drove away. The female was not injured.
The police department wishes to remind the public to be vigilant of unusual persons and/or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Parents should speak to children about the dangers of approaching or talking to unknown persons. Children who walk to and from school should be aware of alternate routes they may take home if needed and if possible, neighborhood “safe houses” where a trusted adult may be home and can offer shelter in an emergency, be it related to inclement weather or possible criminal activity.
