Frederick Man Charged in Domestic Assault (CIS)

On 11/18/2017 at approximately 0238 hours, Frederick Police Officers responded to the 400 block of West South Street for a Domestic Assault. Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from several lacerations to her head, neck, arms and torso. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and later released. Suspect was immediately located in his apartment and taken into custody without incident. Suspect also transported to neighboring hospital, condition not related to the assault incident.

Detective Matthew Irons was later assigned as the lead investigator regarding the assault. Through the subsequent investigation, Detective Irons was able to identify the suspect in this case as Spencer Everett Goodman. The investigation revealed Goodman was involved in a verbal argument with the victim that turned physical in their apartment. The suspect used a blunt object and edged weapon to strike the victim several times to the head, neck, arms and torso. Again, the victim and suspect are known to one another prior to the assault.

On 11/18/2017, Detective Irons applied for a statement of charges against Goodman related to the incident. A District Court Commissioner issued an arrest warrant charging Goodman with the below listed offenses.

On 11/20/2017 at approximately 1400 hours, Goodman was released from area hospital and Officers with the Frederick Police Department transported the suspect to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without incident. At the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, warrant was served and the suspect is awaiting an initial appearance before District Court Commissioner.
