FPD Investigating Fraud - Help Us Identify Suspects
FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects in a fraud investigation. In November 2017, the suspects used the victim's social security number to open accounts in her name. The victim was notified of this activity recently when she received a billing statement from Verizon indicating the purchase of items. This prompted the victim to review her credit activity which revealed other credit accounts had been opened/compromised in the Frederick area using her name and social security number.
The first incident happened on November 28th at approximately 10:30 am, the suspects went to the Verizon Store at 1003 West Patrick Street and purchased two iPhones and set up phone lines for each phone. Later that evening, the suspects purchased items at the JC Penney and Victoria’s Secret store in the Francis Scott Key Mall, opening credit accounts using the victim’s social security number.
