City Fire Hydrant Flushing Procedures May 2012
Once a year, the City of Frederick’s Department of Public Works clears the sediment from the city water mains by opening the fire hydrants. During the flushing procedures, water may appear cloudy or slightly discolored for a short period of time. Lines will be flushed according to the following schedule:
SECTION (1) MONDAY MAY 14, 2012
Seventh Street northward, including Fredericktown Village, Spring Valley, Amber Meadows and Route 40 West.
SECTION (2) TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012
East and West Patrick Street to Baughman’s Lane and everything northward to Seventh Street. Also included in this area will be Old Farm, Whittier, Shookstown Road and Route 40 West.
SECTION (3) WEDESDAY, MAY 16, 2012
East and West Patrick Street and everything southward to the Route 15 interchange. Also included in this area will be Route 40 West.
The following areas will be flushed during the day between May 14th and May 16th: Deerbought, Main Farm, Worman’s Mill, Clover Ridge, North Crossing and Willowbrooke subdivisions.
All other areas will be done in the evenings to avoid, as much as possible, the hours when most people are doing laundry, bathing, or otherwise using large amounts of water. Questions or concerns may be directed to the City’s Water Dept. at 301-600-1681.
