City and County HPC to Co-Host Workshop on Preservation Law and Procedures

Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Historic Preservation Commission and the Frederick County Historic Preservation Commission are co-hosting a new Maryland Association of Historic District Commission’s workshop on preservation law and procedures. The workshop with be led by Fred Stachura, preservation attorney and staff to the Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission, and will cover a number of legal issues as they relate to Historic Preservation Commissions. The workshop is designed to teach a basic working knowledge of relevant subjects, including economic hardship, demolition by neglect, ex parte communication, and the legal basis of commission authority in Maryland. While the workshop is targeted to commission members and staff, historic property owners, attorneys, contractors, and anyone who is interested in learning more about legal issues related to commission operations are welcome to attend.
