The City of Frederick Announces Release of Second Transparent Frederick Application
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick is proud to announce the release of the second Transparent Frederick application. This application allows people to see where money is spent geographically. The public can look at how money is spent inside the City and drill down to see which vendors are used. Transparent Frederick is the City’s initiative to enable citizens to see their tax dollars in action. These intuitive applications will provide the public unprecedented access to the City's financial data.
This is the first government application in the State of Maryland to provide this level of transparency into how government conducts business. Mayor Randy McClement stated “Some governments talk about transparency, but The City of Frederick is now leading the way with Transparent Frederick. We are excited to launch this initiative and allow the public an open look at how we do business.”
Over the next few months other features will be released. These will focus on the City’s revenue sources, and how tax dollars are spent.
Transparent Frederick was developed by The City of Frederick’s Information Technology Department in conjunction with the City’s Finance Department. You can find Transparent Frederick on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com/transparent.
