City’s First Strategic Plan Adopted

CommUNITY 2030 frames the vision for the City’s next ten years

At tonight’s Mayor and Board of Alderman Public Hearing, the Board of Alderman approved a resolution to adopt the City’s first strategic plan. The plan, known as CommUNITY 2030, was developed by the Mayor’s office with the significant input of the Board of Aldermen, staff, the Mayor’s Strategic Opportunities Advisory Team, City residents, and other community stakeholders over the last eleven months. Plan chapters 2, 4, and 5 were formally adopted by the Board of Alderman.

“CommUNITY 2030 will strive to ensure that transformative actions and budgetary priorities set forth by the City are consistent with the community’s vision.  The plan also signals a clear and concise message to our partners in the private, non-profit, and other governmental agencies to collaborate with the City in working towards the implementation of a common vision,” stated City Chief Administration Officer, Marc DeOcampo.

The City will now focus on the annual work plan for FY 2021, which will identify the initiatives and specific actions that can be reasonably achieved or initiated within the year. The Work Plan will be drafted ahead of formulating the annual City Budget. Implementation progress will be tracked and reported to the community quarterly.

Mayor O’Connor shared, “My vision moving forward is that the decision-making process of City government and the initiatives our community undertakes will be guided by this document.  To the hundreds of residents who participated in this process, thank you for your time and contributions. Thank you also to our many City employees who work every day to keep Frederick vibrant, and to those who invested their energies to see this process to completion.”
