The 600' runway extension project with taxiway and runup area brings the length of Runway 5-23 to 5,819 feet. The extension was funded in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), Frederick County, and The City of Frederick. The new length improves the safety margins for aircraft and accommodates increased fuel & passenger loads. FDK houses approximately 250 based aircraft and in 2019, had over 95,891 takeoffs and landings.
