On Monday Feb. 22, 2021, Detectives from the Frederick Police Department obtained information that the suspect involved in at least two of the most recent stabbings (Feb. 6 at S McCain Dr. and Feb. 20 at 1025 W. Patrick St.) was a juvenile living in the area. This juvenile had been stopped and questioned during a field interview with OFC. Fernholz and OFC. Alvarez on Sunday Feb. 21 wearing similar clothing to what witnesses described him wearing during the incidents, and in the same general vicinity as the assaults.
Based on this information and other information Detectives obtained, they applied for and received a Search and Seizure Warrant for the juvenile’s residence. Officers established contact with the mother and the Juvenile resident and he was taken into custody without incident. He was taken back to FPD HQ for questioning. Based on this questioning and items recovered during the Search and Seizure Warrant this juvenile Male has been charged in connection with a third stabbing that occurred on Feb. 17 in the Prospect Hall Apartment Complex.
The juvenile was transported to a State Juvenile Detention Facility for processing and will remain charged as a juvenile at this time.
FPD would like to thank the community members and businesses in the area of these incidents for their assistance with observations and video. The community's involvement in this case helped lead to the arrest of the suspect.
