[ARCHIVED] Expect delays on Route 15 for Chief Frech funeral services

1

The following is a press release from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office regarding funeral services for Brunswick Police Chief Milton Frech Jr., which will impact the City of Frederick.

FREDERICK, Md. (April 2, 2021) – The viewing for recently-deceased Brunswick Police Chief Milton Frech Jr., is scheduled for Monday, April 5, from 12-8 p.m. at Stauffer’s Funeral Home located at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Additionally, the funeral is Tuesday, April 6, and starts at 1 p.m. at Stauffer’s and then continues to the Blue Ridge Cemetery located at 121 North Altamont Avenue in Thurmont, Maryland.

“Frederick City and the town of Thurmont should expect a heavy police presence and heavy delays on Tuesday, April 6,” said Capt. Jeff Eyler, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FSCO) Patrol Operations Commander. “We are expecting a very large response of first responders, along with community members, family, and friends of Chief Frech.

“If you are not attending this funeral in Frederick or services at the cemetery in Thurmont, we advise all travelers to avoid Route 15 between the Motter Avenue exit and north to the Route 77 exit in Thurmont between the hours of 2-4 p.m. Additionally, all Thurmont residents should expect heavy delays during this time period as the procession will go through the town.”

Immediately after the funeral at Stauffer’s, a long processional starting at approximately 2 p.m. will depart to the gravesite services at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Those traveling on Route 15 at this time should expect a heavy police presence. The attached map shows the planned route.

Understanding this event may be widely attended and that space will be limited and given today’s environment, the funeral from Stauffers will be livestreamed and viewers can safely watch it at this link https://vimeo.com/event/859100. It will also be streamed on the Brodie Ledford Studios Facebook page and watch parties will be started on the FCSO and Department of Fire & Rescue Services Facebook pages as well. Additionally, FCG TV will be rebroadcasting these funeral services live on Comcast channels 1085 and 19.
