On Sunday May 2, 2021 at approximately 9 p.m. Officers responded to the area of 100 Hill Street for a report of a firearms discharge. A witness pointed out a Blue sedan in the area that was possibly involved. OFC. Haynie approached the vehicle and identified the male walking away from the vehicle as Gregory Lon Jackson of the 1100 Block of Daffodil Drive Frederick, MD.
Shortly thereafter several other witness interviews, Mr. Jackson was identified as the individual that was firing the handgun. Witnesses advised he was not firing at anyone specific, but it appeared he was firing into the air. Even though the park was occupied by innocent bystanders, no one was injured and no property was struck by the gunfire.
Upon closer inspection of the vehicle OFC. Haynie could see shell casings in the vehicle. Based on that information FPD obtained a Search and Seizure Warrant pertaining to the vehicle and Mr. Jackson’s residence. Several firearms were recovered during these searches as well as other evidence of the firearms discharge.
Mr. Jackson is currently at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center awaiting bond review. If anyone has information about this case or has camera footage of the area please contact FPD at 301-600-TIPS (8477), send information via email to fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org, or send a text to 240-674-TIPS (8477).
