FREDERICK, MD – In the early morning hours of July 4, 2021 Patrol Officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of East South Street for a report of a rape that had occurred earlier. During the initial investigation, officers spoke with the victim, who advised she was walking in the downtown area, between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. when she was approached by a male and raped in an alley off S. Carroll St.
Detectives from the Investigations Division also responded to the scene and spoke with the victim. FPD Special Victims Detectives are aggressively pursuing every lead in this case. We are asking for anyone in or around the area to review video surveillance of their own to determine if the suspect, who is described as a tall, heavy set black male approximately 40 years of age, appears may have been in the area. The person we are trying to identify is described as bald and had no facial hair. He did not display a weapon during this incident.
