On November 15, 2023, around 9:15 a.m., the front office of West Frederick Middle School received a bomb threat, prompting an evacuation of the school. Simultaneously, Crestwood Middle School, located in Frederick County, faced a similar threat, resulting in evacuations at both school locations.
The Frederick Police Department searched West Frederick Middle School, and the Frederick County Sheriff's Office conducted a search at Crestwood Middle School. By 10:45 a.m., the threats were deemed non-credible, allowing students and staff to safely re-enter the buildings.
Officers continue to investigate the origin of the calls. Several other schools in Maryland reported similar threats on Wednesday morning. FPD remains committed to ensuring the safety of the community and will continue to investigate any potential threats.
