The Frederick Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old male on murder charges in the Dec. 26, 2021 homicide in the 100 Block of Routzahn's Way.
FPD identified Darin Tyler Robey, 20, of Frederick, as the suspect in the death of Jaion Antonio Penamon at a local restaurant establishment and filed for charges of 1st and 2nd Degree Murder, 1st and 2nd Degree Assault and several firearms charges early Monday morning.
Officers from FPD and partnering agencies responded to the incident location at approximately 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening. The initial investigation determined Robey and a female got into an altercation inside the restaurant establishment where the incident occurred. Penamon attempted to intervene in the altercation and Robey shot him multiple times in the vestibule of the restaurant. Penamon was pronounced deceased at the scene.
