An increase in fishing in the restricted area of Carroll Creek prompts The City of Frederick to remind the public that fishing is not allowed in some parts of the creek. Fishing is prohibited in the creek between the brick bridge to the north of the William R. Diggs Memorial Swimming Pool and the East Patrick Street Station, where the creek intersects East Patrick Street. A map that shows where fishing is and isn’t allowed can be found here.
Open fishing areas require a fishing license through Department of Natural Resources for ages 16 and older. Some parts of Carroll Creek, and Culler Lake are open fishing areas (and a fishing license required). Children age 15 and under do not require a fishing license in the State of Maryland.
