In February, detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant charging Dante Martes Whiten with three commercial robberies occurring between September 2022 and February 2023. All three robberies occurred at different convenience stores in the City of Frederick.
The first robbery occurred on Sept. 16, 2022, when officers with the Frederick Police Department responded to 204 Amber Drive for a reported robbery at a convenience store. Whiten physically assaulted a store employee before forcing them to open the cash register, stealing the money, and fleeing the scene. The second robbery occurred in the 1300 Block of N. East St. on Jan. 16, 2023. Whiten threatened the employee with a knife before fleeing with stolen money from the register. The last robbery in the series occurred on Feb. 8, 2023, in the 300 Block of S. Jefferson St. Whiten rushed behind a store counter and stole money from the employee before fleeing the scene.
Whiten has an active arrest warrant for these incidents as well as two warrants for failing to appear in court on unrelated charges.
