Mayor Michael O’Connor is excited to announce the establishment of an Equity & Inclusion Splash Grant to provide funding to local nonprofit organizations in the City of Frederick that address the interests and needs of diverse communities, particularly in the areas of inclusive hiring and recruiting, workforce practices, equitable service offerings, and resource allocation or policy.
The Equity & Inclusion Splash Grant application opens on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
"In our diverse and vibrant community, it has never been more critical that we prioritize equity and inclusion in all aspects of our governance. Establishing an Equity & Inclusion Splash Grant is a significant step forward, enabling us to address the unique interests and needs of our nonprofits and those they serve as well as break down barriers to reduce inequities that exist in The City of Frederick,” says Mayor Michael O’Connor.
Special assistance will be given to those applications proposing “self-help” projects, those with significant involvement by community members or employees and projects that encourage collaboration between community members and organizations.
Projects can touch on one or more of the following areas:
- Structural racism
- Accessibility and/or disability inclusion
- Dismantling of historic barriers to access or opportunity
- Bystander intervention
- Unconscious bias
- Equitable leadership
- Change management
- Cultural competence
- Supplier diversity
Applicants will be able to request a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $50,000. The deadline to apply is on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
