Frederick, MD – City of Frederick Alderman Shelley Aloi has been tapped to serve on the Maryland Municipal League Convention Planning Committee for the 2012-2013 year.

Each year, elected officials from across the State of Maryland attend the Maryland Municipal League’s Annual Convention in Ocean City, Maryland. The purpose of the convention is to afford the elected officials a time learn about and discuss municipal issues and to network with fellow city and town officials. It is also an opportunity to meet with key state officials at the Cabinet Secretaries Roundtable and to visit commercial and state agency displays in MML’s exhibit hall. Over 200 exhibits display a wide array of products and services including wireless technology, engineers, GIS systems, financial services, insurance, lighting, ordinance codification, recreation and parks equipment, water and wastewater supplies and consultants, and public works equipment and vehicles.

Alderman Aloi stated, "Attending the MML Convention provides elected officials and staff a wealth of information. The combination of exhibits, classes and networking possibilities allows the opportunity to hear what colleagues are doing around the state and become educated regarding new ideas and technologies. I am very honored and excited to be part of the planning for next year’s convention and look forward to working with my peers.”

The Maryland Municipal League represents Maryland’s 157 municipal governments and two special taxing districts. MML works to strengthen the role and capacity of municipal government through research, legislation, technical assistance, training and the dissemination of information to its members. MML is the only statewide organization in Maryland composed solely of municipal officials and devoted to the promotion of municipal government.
