The City of Frederick announces Reopening of Gas House Pike at Monocacy Blvd
The City of Frederick is excited to announce the scheduled reopening of Gas House Pike on Monday, December 4, 2023, upon completion of Phase 1 improvements along Gas House Pike and Monocacy Blvd. The Phase 1 improvements added a second left-turn lane on westbound Gas House Pike and a second left-turn lane on southbound Monocacy Blvd for additional travel capacity at the intersection. Temporary pavement markings and asphalt will be in place at the intersection until final paving and marking can be completed in Spring once temperatures are appropriate.
Motorists are urged to remain alert to the reopening of the full intersection with added lanes and lane shifts, and exercise caution while travelling through the intersection.
The general contractor for the construction work is C. William Hetzer, Inc. based in Hagerstown, MD. The improvement project is funded through private developer contributions, at no cost to the City.
Phase 2 of the project will commence in Spring and will involve widening of southbound Monocacy Blvd to extend the southbound Monocacy Blvd left-turn lane capacity. This work will be completed with lane closures, without any road closures.
