BB&T Lighthouse Project Refurbishes Park
Frederick, MD -- Hill Street Park, located at 100 Hill Street, will be closed on Wednesday, July 25th as BB&T Employees roll up their sleeves to give the park a facelift as part of the BB&T Lighthouse Project!
For the third consecutive year, BB&T associates went into their communities to take part in the BB&T Lighthouse Project, a company-wide community service effort. Associates continue to live the BB&T's mission:
? Helping clients achieve economic success and financial security.
? Creating a place where our employees can learn, grow, and be fulfilled in their work.
? Making communities in which we work better places to be, therefore optimizing the long term return to our shareholders.
The Lighthouse Project allows associates time out of the office to lend a helping hand to those in need of hope and encouragement during this time of economic instability and insecurity.
Rain or shine, BB&T associates will supply and spread 100 yards of mulch on the playground and supply paint and paint the picnic tables and bathroom doors at Hill Street Park.
Roelkey Myers, The City of Frederick Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation said, "BB&T's service project at Hill Street Park is just another fine example of what makes Frederick such a great community to live in!”
“The Lighthouse Project is an excellent opportunity for our team to increase a long standing tradition of giving back. Our associates are excited about these opportunities to make a real difference in Frederick County. Rolling up their sleeves and getting involved has been a part of our culture for 140 years” says Robert Tuggle, Frederick County Area Executive, BB&T Corporation.
During the first three years of BB&T's Lighthouse Project, employees helped as many people as they possibly could. Collectively, BB&T employees have donated more than 150,000 volunteer hours to local charities and touched the lives of more than 5 million people in 25 states.
