The City of Frederick Releases RFI for Prospective Downtown Properties
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick and the Downtown Hotel Advisory Committee are seeking information about prospective downtown properties as possible future sites to construct a new full-service downtown hotel. The Request for Information (RFI) is being issued to provide a non-binding manner for owners of property located in Downtown Frederick to submit information about their properties.
Downtown Frederick has been chosen by the Committee as the preferred location for this facility in Frederick County because of its central location, easy access from Interstates, amenities like restaurants, shops, museums, parks, visitor center, public transit options and the unique marketing character of the historic district.
A recent study for the demand and feasibility of constructing such a project was completed in 2010 by Pinnacle and OPX. An updated study was completed in July 2012 by the Maryland Stadium Authority (Crossroads Associates). Both studies provided sufficient evidence that demand for a 200 room, full-service downtown hotel was sufficient. The Downtown Hotel Advisory Committee’s web-page can be found at http://www.cityoffrederick.com/index.aspx?nid=483.
RFI submittals will be received by the Purchasing Department until 3 pm, Friday, October 5th, 2012. Request for Information document RFI 13-D, may be downloaded from the COF Purchasing website at: http://www.cityoffrederick.com/index.aspx?nid=251.
