Mayor McClement Creates Green Initiative Team
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick is currently seeking three (3) City residents to serve on the new Green Initiative Team (GIT) recently created by Mayor Randy McClement.
The role of the Green Initiative Team (GIT) is to lead and coordinate the sustainability activities of the community through the Sustainable Maryland Certified Program. Sustainable Maryland Certified is a new initiative of the Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland (EFC) designed to support Maryland's 157 municipalities as they look for cost-effective and strategic ways to protect their natural assets and revitalize their communities. Using best practices in resource areas like water, energy, land use, health, food, and economy, a municipality can earn points toward sustainability certification.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen adopted Resolution 11-17 in support of the Sustainable Maryland Certified program. The Sustainable Maryland Certified Program web site is: http://www.sustainablemaryland.com/index.php
