Last week, Mayor Michael O'Connor named two finalists in the City's search for a new police chief and invited the community to participate in the final phase of the process. The finalists will address the community tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 (4:30 PM-6:45 PM). Each finalist will be given one hour to introduce oneself and answer questions submitted by the community. All questions for the community forum must be submitted by today, January 4, 2021. A moderator will review and pose the questions to the finalists to maximize the time available for each candidate.

Following the community forum, the City will be soliciting feedback on each finalist. The feedback survey will be posted on frederickmd.gov/chiefsearch following the presentations.
The City launched its search for a new police chief in September 2020. A search committee of community members held various community stakeholder meetings through November and narrowed the 35 applications to seven. A committee comprised of members of the City's leadership team continued the process, narrowing the pool to the finalists presented. Next, Mayor Michael O'Connor will select one final candidate to present to the Board of Alderman.
